Kajaki Dam expansion work to begin soon, President Ghani says
President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has said the expansion work of Kajaki Dam will begin soon in a bid to expand the capacity of the water reservoir of the dam.

Speaking during a meeting with the members of the provincial council in Lashkargah city of Helmand, President Ghani said a Turkish firm is prepared to invest $175 million on expansion work of Kajaki Dam.
President Ghani further added that the exapansion of the dam would increase the capacity of its reservoir by up to one billion cubic meter.
He also added that the study work of Zamindaran Canal is in its final stages and the government is committed to operationalize the canal.
The Office of the President, ARG Palace, in a statement said the members of the provincial council shared their concerns and recommendations regarding the lack of servicemen in the formation of the national police and national armed forces, lack of market for agricultural products, lack of teachers, construction works in Kajaki and Farhad dams, resumption of Boost Enterprise operations, promotion of Helmand higher institute to University, establishment of corn oil factory, construction of six bridges along the Helmand River, government’s attention to Boost hospital, coordination among the civil and military institutions, government’s attention to the families of the fallen soldiers, and some other key issues.
